Maths Week Scotland, developed and delivered by National Museums Scotland, wanted to build greater awareness of the programme across the country and encourage positive attitudes towards numeracy and maths.
Our objectives were to position the spokesperson as a thought leader, drive people to the MWS website, and encourage schools and families to get involved in activities achieving coverage in both national and regional media.
Our targeted communications campaign used a broad range of traditional and digital media tactics, maximising radio and TV coverage by arranging an on-air radio maths quiz, securing spokesperson broadcast interviews and opinion pieces in national media, and engaging with teacher and learning influencers to reach teachers, parents, and pupils. This activity increased the number of students that participated by 47% year on year and met all our programme targets.
This project was awarded gold for the Best Use of Media Relations and Scottish Campaign of the Year at the CIPR Scotland PRide Awards 2022.
