Insight
We developed a programme with the Sustainable Learning Partnership, that embraced the principles of Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence.
Clean Energy from the Sea provides opportunities for pupils to make a connection between offshore renewables and their own studies in subjects such as geography, physics and modern studies.

Idea
We launched the the project in Orkney, with pupils testing their own wave device and secured strong media interest. We also used the project as a focus for widening stakeholders relationships.

Impact
Scottish Government Minister, Dr Alisdair Allan MSP, said of the project: “Giving students the chance to develop skills which equip them for future careers is a key part of the Curriculum for Excellence”.
Following the positive evaluation, the Crown Estate is looking at how to work with partners to extend the project to more schools in Scotland – and potentially beyond.
