New Director at top Edinburgh venue

Edinburgh’s stunning landmark events venue, The Hub, has appointed Andrew Burton as Director of Hospitality, Events and Facilities.

With a remit to expand on the operations side of the business, Andrew brings over 25 years of experience in venue operations, events and hospitality.

Andrew now leads the team promoting The Hub as one of Edinburgh’s premier private events spaces and plays a key role in achieving the company’s growth goals, as well as building on its outstanding reputation for service and delivery for delegates and guests.

Talking about his appointment, Andrew said: “I am excited to join the team at The Hub; it is not every day the opportunity arises to work in such a unique and iconic venue.  The flexibility of our space combined with a team focused on delivering service excellence across all corporate and private events strengthens our ambition to be the ‘venue of choice’ for all our current and future clients.”

Before joining The Hub, Andrew spent three years with Sodexo at notable venue Perth Racecourse, where he was responsible for conferences and events. Most recently, Andrews’s experience includes six years at Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow as both Venue Operations Manager and Campus Facilities Manager. His highlights include opening The SSE Hydro in 2013 and hosting The 2014 Commonwealth Games. Andrew has also run his own business, AB-MGMT supporting organisations to improve service delivery, productivity and financial efficiency.

The Hub, situated at the top of the historic Royal Mile, is one of Edinburgh’s most dramatic venues.  The magnificent Grade A Listed building is renowned for its integration of contemporary design and facilities within classical Victorian architecture.  It has a richly decorated Main Hall and the elegant Dunard Library, which are ideal for gala dinners, weddings, ceilidhs, exhibitions and special events that demand a flexible space and creative edge.
