Food for thought

I spent a recent rainy evening catching up on Remarkable Places to Eat, a programme highlighting standout food experiences across Europe with first date’s Fred Sirieix. Edinburgh’s episode which featured Leith’s The Kitchin and Newhaven Fish Market had the foodie inside me thinking how fortunate we are to have Scotland’s culinary treasures right on our doorstep. Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is underway and while we’ve loved hearing about how our food and drink clients are celebrating, including The Hub on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile launching a new menu highlighting its Scottish produce, it’s the perfect time to showcase that food and drink PR is something for which Pagoda PR has a real flavour…

Cooking up a strategy

Our ongoing work with Edinburgh New Town Cookery School involves increasing its profile as a provider of professional cookery courses, and shows how a good digital strategy and execution can drive business. To drive course bookings the combination of blogger relations, videography and support for news and events has given ENTCS a varied and exciting PR programme. A recent focus on SEO and a robust social media strategy has demonstrated how a digital strategy can really demonstrate commercial value through increased sales.

Gin-credible coverage

With 70% of the UK’s gin being distilled in Scotland, a recent highlight for our team has included working with one of Scotland’s most exciting new gin brands, Old Curiosity on a project basis. As the gin range doubled, we identified the need to spread out the launches, and so tied each one to a seasonal event such as Valentine’s Day and the Summer Solstice. And we got gin-credible coverage! The new gins were featured widely in print and online in top target publications, reaching over 13 million people in just six months. Highlights included Cosmopolitan.co.uk, The Guardian, Metro and Good Housekeeping.

Icing on the Cake

When Edinburgh’s only fully gluten free bakery, Sugar Daddy’s wanted to open a second bakery and cafe in order to develop new coeliac-friendly treats, they asked us to help their campaign. With a strategy to promote their Kickstarter appeal to local and business media, the team quickly raised the funds required for expansion and kept Edinburgh’s sweet-toothed population happy. We focused on profiles, news stories and working with food influencers to target those who would support the campaign.  We enjoyed testing the cakes too!
