Sir Michael Hirst

Michael leads on providing strategic advice on politically sensitive issues to a wide range of clients. As well as heading Pagoda's public affairs team, he is retained to act for a number of health-related clients, including
Roche Diagnostics and Novo Nordisk. His work on the Scottish Campaign for Anti-Coagulation Europe won the award for the best public affairs campaign in 2003.
Until 1987 he was an MP for Strathkelvin and Bearsden. Prior to joining the company in 1998, he held a number of senior political appointments in Scotland which gave him close experience of government decision making. He was appointed Chairman of Pagoda in 2000.
He was knighted in 1992 for political and public service.
Michael is a graduate in law and a chartered accountant. For 2 years, he held the post of Chair of Diabetes UK and he currently holds a number of appointments in the business and charitable fields in Scotland.
