Private Passions: EDI is 'no ordinary property company'
Private Passions, Inside Housing, 4th November 2005 (p21)
'If you build something of poor quality then it stays there looking shit for all time. And when you make a really big amount of money one year, it’s forgotten the next. It’s the things you do to create that money which are lasting. Profit is ephemeral, property is forever.’

This is Ian Wall speaking, the charismatic chief executive of Edinburgh-based property developer EDI. As he indicates, this is no ordinary property company.

EDI is wholly owned by Edinburgh City Council, councillors sit on the board and its profits go into the authority’s coffers.

This can be very useful for the authority – last year EDI made a profit of ?1.33 million on a ?7.6 million turnover. But unlike most companies, profit isn’t its main objective.

Pagoda PR works with The EDI Group to handle all aspects of corporate media relations for the company, managing EDI’s reputation and securing media coverage to build and enhance the profile of this major property development company.
