Another Public Affairs win for Pagoda

Following our recent double success at the CIPR PRide awards in October this year, we’re now very proud to have won Best Campaign in Scotland at the first UK National Public Affairs Awards.

Our entry, Improving Housing Choices for older Scots, in association with our client McCarthy & Stone, was praised by judges for being an integrated campaign with real, tangible outcomes. An ‘impressive campaign and good public affairs outcomes’ was how one Judge summarised this campaign. Others spoke of ‘an intelligent integrated campaign’ and ‘a very impressive campaign across multiple channels’.

We capitalised on media interest around the demographic timebomb to highlight the huge gap between the number of people over 65 and theavailability of appropriate, specialist retirement homes.

The new Scottish Planning Policy (SPP) published in June 2014 now includes provisions for older people’s housing, ensuring that councils must consider it in housing needs assessments; prepare policies to support its delivery and allocate sites.
