Mitsubishi to invest up to £100m: Snow, sake and the Scottish Samurai
With just six working days’ notice, Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe (MPSE) charged Pagoda with supporting them on a major acquisition and investment announcement.
What we did:
- Developed a persuasive pitch to secure the participation of the First Minister in the launch media and stakeholder event to announce R&D of a game-changing offshore wind turbine
- Sourced quotes from the First Minister, the UK Minister of State for Energy, the UK Business Secretary and Scottish Renewables CEO
- Managed all aspects of a complex event including a sake ceremony
Results:
- Despite severe winter weather, around 30 media and 70 stakeholders attended the event
- Coverage over a three-day period was carried by national and global broadcast, print and online outlets, with approx 2,432,720 opportunities to see in UK print alone
- Coverage included The Times (front page), The Daily Telegraph, leader columns in broadsheets, national TV and radio, and online articles with Reuters and Fox News, various Asian and European finance and energy outlets
Since the announcement, Mitsubishi has enjoyed repeated name-checks in media, ongoing public endorsements by the First Minister, and was cited as an example of inward investment in the Scottish Government’s blueprint for the renewables industry.
